Alexandra Berl of Los Alamos has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a state-level Certificate of Excellence from The 2013 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program.  

A state-level Certificate of Excellence signifies that Berl was among the top 10 percent of all applicants from New Mexico in this year’s program. She is a junior at Los Alamos High School.

Kiwanis Club Announces Meeting Schedule

The Los Alamos Kiwanis Club meets noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays at the Masonic Temple on Sage Street, near 15th and Canyon.

IHM Holds Friday Fish Fries

IHM News:

It is Fish Fry time again at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall, 5 to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent.

The dinners are sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and proceeds will benefit Nuestros Pequenos Orphanage in Honduras and other charities.

Adult plates are $10 and have two pieces of cod, with coleslaw and rice or french fries, plus a drink and dessert.

Children may have one piece of fish or a grilled cheese sandwich with all the rest for $7 a plate. Read More

Pinon Elementary School PTO will host St. Patrick’s Day-themed Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at Pinon Elementary School.

Early registration forms and fees are due March 1. Adults (18 and up) are $10 and $5 for youth. Late registration (after March 1) is $20 for adults and $15 for youth.

The showing is sponsored by PEEC and sheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Reel Deal Theater. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
