Community Invited to Baked Potato Bar Benefit

ALP 90 News:

Auxiliary Unit 90 of American Legion Post 90 is sponsoring a Baked Potato Bar Benefit to support Auxiliary Programs at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.

The Baked Potato Bar includes a large baked potato with ALL the fixings for $5 or a half-size potato for $3.

There also will be live music provided beginning at 7 p.m. by singer/songwriter BAT, a one-man band performing originals and requests from the audience.

Programs the Auxiliary will be raising money for at this event include the Scholarship Program and the Girls’ State Program.

Lilly Bueck, Addison Richie and Elizabeth Lockhart were the top scorers in their divisions for Los Alamos School of Gymnastics Atomic Tumblers at the Precision Gymnastics Meet Jan.26-27 in Albuquerque.

January Home Sales Off and Running

There were 970 home sales reported to the REALTORS® Association of New Mexico (RANM) for January 2013.

This is more than 19 percent more sales than January 2012 and nearly 24 percent more than the number of sales reported in January 2011.

Only four counties reported a drop in the number of sales for January 2013 compared to January 2012.

“What a great way to start 2013,” RANM President Cathy Colvin said. “Inventories are still low in many markets, but the pent-up demand for homes is creating activity in markets around the state.”

Local astronomer Stephen Becker will share his eclipse experiences through photos and video, with a special focus on the total solar eclipse of November 2012 at a talk from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC), 3540 Orange St. in Los Alamos.

The 2013 Los Alamos Photographers’ Show (LAPS) opens Monday, March 4. LAPS is an annual event sponsored by the Los Alamos Photography Club and exhibited in the Mesa Public Library Gallery.
