Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA) held its dress rehearsal Thursday night for its annual Spring Show Performance. DALA’s older dancers performed Friday evening and will perform again at 7 p.m. this evening at Duane Smith Auditorium. DALA’s younger dancers will have their own matinee performance at 2 p.m. today. Active Duty U.S. Military Offered Free Entrance to All National Parks Beginning Saturday

BANDELIER News:

The National Park Service has announced that on Saturday May 19, which is Armed Forces Day, it will begin issuing an annual pass offering free entrance to all 397
National Park Service areas for active duty military members and their dependents.

This military version of the America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass also permits free entrance to sites managed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Reclamation, and the U.S. Forest Service.

Public invited to PEEC/Pajarito Astronomers Annular Eclipse Event Sunday at Overlook

PEEC News:

One projecting telescope, four viewing telescopes with solar filters and 100 eclipse-viewing glasses will be available at Sunday’s big Annular Eclipse Event at Overlook Park in White Rock.

The Pajarito Astronomers and Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) are sponsoring the event and will assist people who choose to make simple pinhole viewers at the park. People who have their own telescopes with solar filters are welcome to bring them to view the eclipse.

United Skates Celebrates 50 Years

The First United Methodist Church, 715 Diamond Drive (adjacent to Sullivan Field) has hosted the Friday night skate program called “United Skates” for 50 years.  May 11th was the true golden anniversary of the skate program.

Art Center gets ‘Naked’ in New Show

There is not just one way to interpret a theme. Finding an interpretation, in fact, can be an art form.

The Fuller Lodge Art Center has challenged artists with a real hefty theme to illustrate. Eighty artists responded to the challenge and their work will be unveiled to the public starting at 5 p.m. Friday at the Art Center.
