Municipal Court Closed Sept. 26 to 28

MUNICIPAL COURT News:

The Los Alamos Municipal Court Clerk’s Office will be closed Sept. 26, 27 and 28 to allow staff to attend training.

Payments due during this period may be mailed to Los Alamos Municipal Court, 2500 Trinity Dr, Ste C, Los Alamos, NM 87544.

Some payments may be paid online at www.citepayusa.com. 

The Court Clerk’s Office will re-open at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1.

Since I am running for a seat on the County Council, I would like to clarify my position about projects that have already gone through the community vetting process and been approved by Council, as my attendance at a recent Ashley Pond project meeting was noted in a recent front page article in the Monitor.

Councilor Wismer Expresses Disappointment in Councilor Chiravalle’s Response

I read in today’s Los Alamos Daily Post, Councilor Vincent Chiravalle’s response to my concern over his decision to disclose information discussed in closed session. 

I must say that I am deeply disappointed in his response, both on a personal and a professional level. 

He says the allegation is “unfounded and absurd;” I had hoped he would admit his mistake and take responsibility for his actions. Obviously I misjudged him.

I am writing in regard to the Trinity Site Redevelopment project. I am strongly in favor of our County Council agreeing to the assignment of the lease from NADG to Smith’s.
 
And as opposed to Mr. (Robert) Gibson’s opinion published in Thursday’s Los Alamos Daily Post, I do not think this is the time to, once again, re-think this project. Fifteen years is enough and it’s time to keep moving forward.

New White Rock Visitor Center Shines at Sunset

The White Rock Visitor Center Complex illuminated at sunset sits on approximately 5.4 acres adjacent to N.M. 4, just west of Fire Station 3. The Complex consists of three components: a 3,281 square foot Visitor Center building, a 16 space RV parking area and a transit/transfer hub. Mosquito Dunks Available to Local Residents

Worried about mosquitoes and the West Nile virus lurking in the perennial puddles and soggy spots in your yard?

The Los Alamos County Parks Division has “mosquito dunks” available to the public at no cost.

The dunks are effective treatment for the elimination of mosquito larvae in standing water.

The dunks are available at the Parks Division Office located in the Pajarito Cliff Sites Complex, Building 5.
