The Los Alamos Animal Shelter, 226 East Road, (505) 662-8179, has a great selection of on-site adoptable pets just waiting for their forever home.

Others are currently off-campus in foster homes.

Libraries Offer Hands On Clinics for Downloadable Books

The libraries are doing hands on clinics to help patrons learn how to use the fabulous new service for downloadable audio books and eBooks.
 
The following dates and times are for Mesa Public Library and White Rock patrons are encouraged to call the WR Branch to schedule a convenient time.
 
Patrons should bring their own devices on which they plan to use the service with them for the most effective session.

Tonight’s Public Hearing Venue on Satch Cowan Nature Trail Changed to Fuller Lodge

COUNTY News:
 
Los Alamos County is considering a citizen petition to name or rename the Quemazon Nature Trail to the “Satch Cowan Nature Trail” after Helen “Satch” Cowan.
 
Or, the County may name one of the newly created/expanded trails in the Nature Trail Complex as the ‘Satch Cowan Canyon Rim Trail.”
 
Under County Code, a public hearing must be held prior to naming or renaming any County facility – or in this case, a trail – after a deceased individual.
 
Members of the public are invited to attend a public hearing about this matter at 5:30 p.m. today at Fuller Lodge.

Senior Appreciation Night Ends with French Toast & Prizes

Senior Appreciation Night ended this morning with students heading to the Betty Ehart Senior Center for breakfast prepared by the Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos.

County Recreation personnel drew names of seniors who attended all events of the evening.

Senior Appreciation Night Packed with Fun

Students who graduated from los Alamos High School Saturday morning were invited along with their friends to celebrate begining at 6 p.m., the 30th year of Senior Appreciation Night (SAN.)

The event began with a BBQ at Fuller Lodge and ended Sunday morning with breakfast at the Senior Center.

The Los Alamos Recreation Division and the Family YMCA co-chair the annual celebration.

People jammed into the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) meeting in Santa Fe Monday with many more turned away for lack of space.

New White Rock Visitor Center Takes Shape

The new Visitor Center construction project on N.M. 4 in White Rock is moving right along with exterior siding nearing completion. The interior sheetrock is finished and tile and light fixtures were being installed Thursday.
