In this New Mexico Centennial year, Dr. Levine will touch briefly on the one hundred years of New Mexico’s statehood and then explore Governor’s wife Doña Teresa’s role in the state’s colonial past. Firefighters Promoted During Special Ceremony

During a special ceremony Monday at Fire Administration on East Road, three firefighters were promoted. From left, Battalion Chief Paul Grano will supervise the C Shift, Battalion Chief Kelly Sterna will oversee training and exercises related to Los Alamos National Laboratory. Newly promoted Deputy Fire Chief Glenn Trehern is a second generation firefighter. He worked in LANL’s Fire Protection Division for 13 years and has been with LAFD for 22 years. Iris Street Offsite Work Winding Down

The offsite work on Iris Street from the Municipal Building Complex Project is on-going and is anticipated to be completed in mid to late May. County officials explain that this schedule has slipped some compared to last month’s projections due to unforeseen complications with existing utility infrastructure located beneath Iris Street. Curb and gutter has been installed along the south side of Iris Street and work on drive pads is anticipated to start within the next two weeks.
