Council Extends Low-Income Property Tax Rebate Program

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Council adopted an ordinance in January 2025, to extend the Low-Income Taxpayer Property Tax Rebate Program for the next four taxable years (2025-2028).

Authorized under Section 7-2-14.3 of the New Mexico Statutes, the program provides eligible low-income property owners in participating communities with a rebate on their New Mexico Personal Income Tax, offsetting a percentage of their property tax payment, not to exceed $350.

Los Alamos County Now Accepting Applications For Planning & Zoning Commission

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County is now accepting applications for eligible candidates for appointment to one of two vacant seats on the Planning and Zoning Commission.

These vacancies are each three-year terms, expiring 36 months from the date of appointment, and open to individuals with any party affiliation. Interested Los Alamos County residents who do not hold public office and are not employed by the County may submit an online application by visiting the County’s Boards and Commissions webpage and selecting “apply.” Applications will be accepted now until the vacancies are filled. Leaders To Convene In Washington For ‘State Of America’s Counties Summit Jan. 14

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Council of County Association Executives (NCCAE) will host a policy summit Jan. 14 on the state of America’s counties. Free Online Classes Now Available From Los Alamos Public Library Thanks To USDA Funding

Los Alamos Public Library now offers access to more than 150 live and on-demand GetSetUp classes through its website. No library card is required to access these free classes.

The New Mexico State Library is excited to provide this new learning platform, GetSetUp, thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The State Library has partnered with public libraries statewide to make this valuable resource available to all New Mexico residents.

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is inviting customers to take part in its 2026 Voice of the Customer Survey, which launches Tuesday. The annual survey helps DPU measure customer satisfaction in areas such as service quality, reliability, and overall engagement.
