Los Alamos County Invites Community To Vote On Name For Community Broadband Network

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County invites the community to help choose a name for the Community Broadband Network (CBN) with a brief, one-question survey.

Results will be announced in four weeks, on Feb. 18.

CBN is a County-owned, open-access broadband project that will bring affordable high-speed internet service to more than 10,000 homes and businesses in Los Alamos and White Rock. As an open-access network, the infrastructure will be available to multiple internet service providers (ISPs), giving customers more choices and promoting competitive pricing.

Los Alamos Public Library System now offers access to more than 150 live and on-demand GetSetUp classes through its website, losalamoslibrary.org.

No library card is required to access these free classes.

Repairs Underway On Two Water Breaks In White Rock

COUNTY News:

Two water breaks occurred today in White Rock:

          • Along Meadow Lane between N. Todd Loop and Bryce Avenue; and
          • Grand Canyon between Meadow Lane and E. Paige Loop.

Standby crews are running into some problems and have revised the restoration estimate to 8 p.m. today.

The issue is a main line break, and the pipe is about 10 feet deep. Crews are working around storm drains and other issues while trying to access/repair the break. Read More

Los Alamos County Social Services Division is offering convenient evening hours at the White Rock Branch Library to better assist people who may not be able to meet during regular business hours.

Community members who need assistance with housing services, utility payments, food instability, or connections to other resources in the county are encouraged to stop by for a one-on-one meeting to learn how Social Services may be able to help.
