FBI: California Man Charged With Assaulting Laguna Pueblo Police Officers

FBI News:

 

Ivan Allen, 38, of Laguna Niguel, Calif., has been charged in a federal complaint with assault on a federal officer for allegedly fighting with two Laguna Police Officers in New Mexico.

 
The incident occurred Tuesday, after the officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Laguna Pueblo. Allen allegedly exited the vehicle and fought with the officers for several minutes before he was taken into custody.
 
The officers are federal officers by virtue of their Bureau of Indian Affairs Special Law Enforcement Commission.

SANTA FE The state Supreme Court Friday upheld the convictions of an Albuquerque man for the kidnapping and murder of a Bernalillo County man in 2014.
 
Trinidad Gallegos was sentenced to life in prison plus 19 years for the shooting death of Sergio Bickham, whose body was found in a tunnel underneath Interstate 40 near a casino west of Albuquerque.
 
In a unanimous decision, the state’s highest court rejected arguments by Gallegos that he failed to receive a fair trial because of what he claimed were mistakes by the trial court and his defense attorney.

WASHINGTON, D.C. The Office of Justice Programs’ Office for Victims of Crime today awarded more than $5.7 million to support crime victims in Native American communities in seven states: Alaska, California, Colorado, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Washington and Wisconsin.
 
The group of 10 awards is the second in a series of grants being made by OVC to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. OVC has now awarded more than $9 million of up to $100 million to support tribal victim service programs.

ALBUQUERQUE Attorney General Hector Balderas has announced the grand jury indictment of Pamela Crumpler, CEO of Guardian Angels. Crumpler is indicted on two counts, including 2nd-degree felony Embezzlement (Over $20,000), and 3rd-degree felony Tampering with Evidence.
 
“No one should take advantage of vulnerable individuals in our community,” Balderas said. “We are prepared to present this case at trial.”
 
Crumpler faces a total jurisdiction of 12 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections.

Bill Expunging Criminal Records Clears NM Senate

Committing a crime might be easy enough. Getting a criminal record expunged in New Mexico is more difficult than almost anywhere in the West.
