Los Alamos Man Sentenced For Indecent Exposure

MUNICIPAL Court News:

Gustavo Salaiz, 19, of Los Alamos pleaded guilty July 31 in Los Alamos Municipal Court to a charge of indecent exposure and received a 90-day jail sentence with 80 of those days suspended. He was placed on supervised probation for six months.

The charge stemmed from a June 28 incident at Mesa Public Library during which Salaiz exposed himself to a female patron. The patron reported to Los Alamos Police officers that Salaiz walked up to her while she was sitting at a desk and exposed his penis to her. Santa Fe Magistrate Court Judge George Anaya, Jr., has dismissed without prejudice four charges against Fidel J. Naranjo, 52, of Los Alamos in connection to a May 31 incident in Santa Fe County where Naranjo allegedly shot another man, Michael Gonzales, in the leg.

Lucero To Appeal Judge’s Ruling On Sheriff’s Duties

Los Alamos County Sheriff Marco Lucero is appealing the July 11 decision by First Judicial District Judge Francis Mathew in Lucero’s suit against Los Alamos County on the duties of the Office of Sheriff.

Lucero’s attorney Blair Dunn filed a notice of intent to appeal Aug. 1 in District Court.

Judge Mathew’s ruling granted the County a permanent injunction restraining Lucero from performing law enforcement duties, but it allows him to retain his “statutory and customary duties”. The judgment estops the County from eliminating Read More

Albuquerque Man Faces Charges For Forging, Cashing Check On Los Alamos Bank Account Of Elderly Woman

COURT News:

A 25-year-old Albuquerque man is slated to appear in Los Alamos Magistrate Court Friday on charges of receiving stolen property, forgery and fraud in connection with a check he cashed for $650 on the Los Alamos bank account of an elderly woman after forging her signature.

Christian Kreisher was arrested June 27 on a warrant requested by Los Alamos Police Det. Matt Lyon and released July 10 by Judge Pat Casados on a $2,000 surety bond pending trial.

A bench warrant is in effect for Jayston Ray Platero, 35, of Los Alamos for failure to appear July 20 in Los Alamos Magistrate Court.

Platero was charged June 12 with two counts of child abuse in addition to charges of driving under the influence and driving on a revoked or suspended license.

Los Alamos Municipal Judge Alan Kirk’s office has released a list of 18 outstanding bench warrants issued for failure to appear in court.

According to Court officials, there are several ways to clear a bench warrant and all of them will require a court date for an appearance before Judge Kirk:

Santa Fe Magistrate Court Files Notice Of Error In Issuing Warrant For Michael Burt Of Los Alamos

Santa Fe Magistrate Court has filed documents indicating that a May 11 warrant for the arrest of Michael Burt of Los Alamos was issued in error by the Court.

According to the documents, the Court’s admitted error resulted in Burt being arrested by the Los Alamos Police Department and notice of that arrest being released to local newspapers as part of the weekly police blotter.
