Courts Warn New Mexicans About Jury Duty Scam

SANTA FE The Administrative Office of the Courts is warning New Mexicans about a scam in which people are called and threatened with arrest unless they pay money for failing to report to jury duty.
 
Anyone receiving such a call should not agree to pay any money and immediately should report the incident to local law enforcement.
 
“New Mexico courts never demand a payment of money from individuals who miss a jury service date,” Artie Pepin, director of the Administrative Office of the Courts said.

State Law And Court Rule Changes In Guardianship And Conservatorship Cases

SANTA FE Guardians and conservators will be required to submit additional information about a protected person’s finances and health in reports to district courts under new rules and forms approved by the New Mexico Supreme Court.
 
It will be mandatory starting July 1 that guardians and conservators use the forms specified in court procedural rules. Changes in rules and forms were necessary to implement improvements in the adult guardianship system under a new state law that takes effect next month.

Bradshaw Bound Over For Trial In District Court

COURT News:

Former Los Alamos Police Ofc. David Bradshaw, now a sheriff’s deputy in Chaves County, was bound over Tuesday to District Court on charges of aggravated assault and abuse of a child not resulting in great bodily harm. The preliminary hearing was held before Judge Buddy J. Hall in Chaves County Magistrate Court in Roswell.

Bradshaw was arrested in Roswell in March following an incident in which he allegedly followed a vehicle home while off-duty and pulled a gun on the driver.

The New Mexico Supreme Court has thwarted an effort by Los Alamos resident Greg White to prevent the Los Alamos County Council from appointing a councilor to replace James Chrobocinski who resigned June 1 due to health issues.
