I first became aware of Chef Lois Ellen Frank when I watched her cooking demonstration during a Wine and Chile Festival in Santa Fe 25 years ago. She made an exquisite and simple tomato sauce, and the fact that I still remember it so clearly speaks to her profound influence.

Celebrate Easter With Friends Of The Shelter At The Posse Lodge Pancake Breakfast Sunday

Don’t forget to come celebrate Easter with Friends of the Shelter this Sunday, April 5, at the Posse Lodge Pancake Breakfast.

Oatmeal Raisin Walnut Cookies

With cookies, it seems sometimes that the population can be divided into two teams—those whose favorite cookie is the chocolate chip, and those who prefer oatmeal raisin. Count me as an oatmeal raisin team member. Even my chocolate chip cookies are simply oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips instead of raisins. (Try it! Delicious, if initially confusing. Celebrate Easter With Friends Of The Shelter Pancake Breakfast At Posse Lodge April 5

FOS News:

Sunday, April 5 is the fourth year in a row that the Los Alamos Friends of the Shelter (FOS) has participated in the Posse Lodge Pancake Breakfast. All proceeds go to FOS and the animals of Los Alamos County and northern New Mexico.

The menu includes pancakes of various flavors (including blueberry and chocolate chip), eggs, bacon, sausage, juice and coffee.

FOS will feature a silent auction of gift baskets, donated by Michelle Mas and Zena Thomas – the gift baskets were a huge hit last year, so come enter your bid. The auction will continue all morning.

Open Mic Night At Bandelier Grill In White Rock

The Bandelier Grill in White Rock, owned by Brian Appell, will sponsor a regular open mic nite, hosted by Richard Hannemann, owner of Hannemann Music, 8:30-12:30 p.m. Saturdays beginning March 21.
 
Acts should plan on a short set of three songs or 10 minutes, which ever comes first  if there is remaining time after everyone has done their short set, open mic nite will open up to something more informal.
