Community Invited to Rotary’s Family-Style Crab Fest

ROTARY News:

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos cordially invites the community to its fourth Annual Crab Fest

This all-you-can-eat crab and prawn family-style dinner is Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Knights of Columbus Hall on DP Road at Trinity Drive. 

The cash bar opens at 5:30 p.m.; dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and there will be music, as well as silent and live auctions. 

Tickets are $45 each; reserved tables of 10 are $450. Tickets may be purchased at Blue Window, CB FOX and the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce. 

Proceeds benefit local schoalarips and the purchase of an AED for Fuller Lodge. Read More

Album Release Party for Rumelia at Pyramid Café

Rumelia will celebrate the release of their debut album 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Pyramid Café in Los Aamos. There is a $10 cover. Children are free. 

Rumelia is a band composed of three women who are putting a new spin on music from Eastern Europe, a region generally known as the Balkans.

The music is unique to the western ear in that it uses odd time signatures (think 7/8, 9/8 and 11/8 for starters), as well as eastern scales (maqam) and tonalities. Rumelia’s repertoire Read More

Bandelier Grill’s New Owner Shares Revitalization Plans

Brian Appell has purchased the Bandelier Grill at N.M. 4 and Sherwood Boulevard in White Rock. Appell is the longtime owner of Los Ojos Restaurant & Saloon in Jemez Springs. He said that he plans to update the menu to include the most popular items at Los Ojos and to extend the hours of operation to include daily breakfast and Sunday brunch. ‘Meetup’ at Dixie Girl Every Friday Night

Several people gathered Friday night for a ‘Meetup’ event during Happy Hour at the Dixie Girl, 1789 Central Ave. Community members are invited to join the group or simply drop in around 5:30 p.m. each Friday, during which time the restaurant bar will offer $3 beers, $5 well drinks, $7 martinis, peel and eat shrimp, oysters on the half shell and other bar food. TOTH Hosts Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

TOTH News:

Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Dr., invites the community to a Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras) pancake supper from 5:30-7 p.m., Feb. 12.

There will be beads, masks and Dixieland music. The menu includes ham, pancakes, a variety of syrups, fruit, eggs cooked to order, and orange juice. 

Tickets can be purchased at the door at $4 for children, $8 for adults, and $20 for a family. All proceeds go toward the Juarez House Build Mission trips, which take place this fall.

Ingredients….
 
1 1/2 cups flour
3 cups (8 oz) shredded Parmesan cheese
2/3 cup Kraft Parmesan- Romano cheese
1 tablespoon fresh cracked pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
5-7 tablespoons water

In a large bowl mix together, flour, cheese, pepper and salt until well blended.
