You might have noticed that the lack of workers for our local restaurants seemed to have hit a crisis level last week.

The labor shortage is forcing some of the local restaurants to change their hours, and even close some days of the week:

Senior Centers Now Serving In-Person Lunch Monday-Friday

LARSO News:

The Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO) announced today that the local senior centers are inviting members to return to in-person dining.

Daily lunch is served 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the suggested donation is $5 per person.

According to senior center staff, recent turn out at the lunches has been at an all-time low, even with socially distanced tables, small numbers seated at each table, ventilated rooms and plexiglass dividers on some tables.

Fully vaccinated Lab retirees (and potential retirees) are invited to drop in at the LRG monthly breakfast, Tuesday Aug. 3, between the hours of 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. at the Morning Glory Restaurant, 1377 Diamond Dr., across from Los Alamos High School.

Morning Glory serves a full breakfast and pastries.

Retirees buy their breakfast, LRG will pay for coffee or tea.

Local Senior Centers Resume In-person Dining Aug. 1

It’s been a long time in coming – the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO) in-person dining will resume Monday, Aug. 2.

As the local senior centers continue a graduated return to services, the one that may have appeared out of reach will return soon. This also means a pause in the very well received drive through lunch option, which has been in place since a fateful day in March 2020.

Pajarito Mountain Presents Beer & Bands Saturday Aug. 7

COMMUNITY News:

The Los Alamos Ski Club is hosting Beer & Bands, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday Aug. 7, on Pajarito Mountain.

Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.

Along with lift served biking and hiking 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and food available from the great Pajarito Cafe, Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op will serve beer and wine noon to 5 p.m. while Eddy and the Nomads entertain 2-5 p.m. on the lodge deck. Read More
