Help Restore Horno At Jemez Historic Site June 22

Jemez Historic Site will lead a hands-on horno, or outdoor adobe oven, restoration workshop, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 22, to get the horno ready for the summer program season.

The community is invited to join Javier Guzman and the rangers at Jemez Historic Site to restore the horno. Visitors can join in and get their hands dirty while learning why hornos are so important in New Mexico and to this site. 

Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes and clothing they don’t mind getting dirty. Bring water and sunscreen as well.

Caution: Extreme Heat Expected Across New Mexico

SANTA FE — With dangerously high temperatures forecast for much of New Mexico this weekend, the New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) urges residents to take steps to protect themselves and others—particularly those most vulnerable to heat-related illness.

The Los Alamos Phi Beta Kappa Association is pleased to announce the winners of our 2025 Regional Scholarships. This is our third year of reaching out to high school students in north central New Mexico, beyond Los Alamos County.

Thanks to generous donations from our members, we were able to award five $1,000 scholarships. These are in addition to three scholarships awarded to Los Alamos High School students Uxue Sansinena, Isabella Blair, and Hyunoo Kim.

SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) and Santa Fe Higher Education Center will be closed Thursday, July 4, for Independence Day. The college’s early childhood development center, Kids Campus, and the William C. Witter Fitness Education Center also will be closed.

Regularly scheduled classes resume on Saturday, July 5. The fitness center will be open from 8 a.m–3 p.m., Saturday, July 5. All services will resume on Monday, July 7.
