Duplicate Bridge In Los Alamos: May 19, 2025 Game Results

Bridge News:

Here is a hand from the May 19 game of the Los Alamos Duplicate Bridge Club that offers E/W a choice of game contracts plus one possible, though unlikely, slam contract.

It’s a dangerous pair of E/W hands, as it is very easy to end up in an unmakeable slam.

This is board #7. South is the dealer and both sides are vulnerable.

West East

Los Alamos

Los Alamos Ranch School turned out many young men who were destined to make their mark on society. One of these young men was Edward T. Hall, who would become a noted cultural anthropologist.

Edward was born in 1914 in Webster Groves, Mo. Not much is known about his life before he attended the ranch school between 1926 and 1927, but he loved the Southwest. He left the school for Santa Fe, where he grew up and spent a lot of time with the artist colony.

Eventually, he earned a bachelor’s in anthropology from the University Read More

Duplicate Bridge In Los Alamos: May 12, 2025 Game Results

Bridge News:

Here is a hand from the May 12 game of the Los Alamos Duplicate Bridge Club that offers an opportunity for both sides to compete for a part score contact.

Hands where both sides are bidding are among the most challenging for duplicate players.

This is board #2. East is the dealer and N/S are vulnerable.

East is the dealer and passes. South opens the bidding with 1 and West has a classic takeout double – opening strength in high cards, and support or tolerance for all the unbid suits. While North lacks high card strength, he/she has a long, reasonably strong spade suit worthy of a preemptive Read More
