2013 Quality New Mexico Learning Summit Set for April 22-23

Quality New Mexico will host its annual Learning Summit April 22-23 at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque.

Bill Wadt of Los Alamos is chair-elect of Quality New Mexico and co-chair of its educational initiative New Mexico Excellence in Learning.

“The goal of the Learning Summit is to get people interested in the idea of improving education in a Systemic way,” Wadt said.

New Mexico House Fights for Public Schools

STATE News:

SANTA FE – The News Mexico House of Representatives passed two bills Sunday aimed at protecting New Mexico’s public schools.

House Bill 460, “School Management Contracts & Charter Boards,” sponsored by Rep. Mimi Stewart (D-Bernalillo-21) passed the House with a vote of 34 to 33.

House Bill 392, “Public Education Commission as Independent”, sponsored by Rep. Mary Helen Garcia (D-Dona Ana-34) passed the House with a vote of 37 to 27.

PAC 8 Opens Spring Break Music Video Class

PAC 8 News:

PAC 8 will begin a new session of “Spring Music Video Classes” April 8 that will run through April 11 (spring break.)

Classes start at 2 p.m. and run until 4 p.m. each day.

Students will learn the process of making a music video.  During the session, students will learn to record audio, operate a camera, basic lighting techniques and basic editing and mixing.

Enrollment for  Summer Art Camp at Bilingual Montessori School is now open. 

The program will serve kids from first to fifth grade.

Bilingual Montessori School has a year-round program for children from 6 weeks of age through kindergarten.

The Los Alamos School Board will hold its Regularl School Board Meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 in the Los Alamos High School Speech Theatre.
