LALT’s 8×10 Production: Eight 10-minute Plays In One Show

Come see the 8×10 Production at the Los Alamos Little Theatre. This increasingly popular format offers eight different 10-minute plays all in one show.

It provides an opportunity for local aspiring and established playwrights to share their creative efforts, a chance for new directors to get their feet wet, and the breakthrough moment for a new actor to get a moment in the spotlight.

Seven of the plays are locally written, six represent directorial debuts, and a number of actors new to the LALT stage will perform. This show represents community theatre at its finest:

Community Invited to ‘The Spanish Table: Tapas y Vino’

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos cordially invites the community to its new fall fundraiser: The Spanish Table: Tapas y Vino. 

The event, which promises to be lively, informative and fun – is set for 5:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Dixie Girl Restaurant and will feature five courses with five wine pairings, including dessert.

The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) will present the documentary Home, Oct. 10 as the third feature in the Composition Cinema I: A Film and Lecture Series, which will run through Nov. 14.

Who am I to review Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo” (1958)? The film has been reviewed, admired, and just plain loved scores of times. James Stewart’s incredible. Kim Novak is creepily fabulous. Barbara Bel Geddes is the most gorgeous buddy a guy could ask for, and quirky enough to guarantee, according to 1950s movie logic, that he won’t fall in love with her. And best of all is the script, so witty, sharp, cunning, insightful, complicated, original and even — yes — thrilling.

LANL’s Charlie McMillan Plays Dead in Arsenic and Old Lace

Arsenic and Old Lace returns to the Los Alamos Little Theatre stage 69 years after its 1944 Los Alamos debut as the opening production of LALT’s 70th season.

In the opening production of Arsenic, the dead body was played by none other than J. Robert Oppenheimer, a role reprised Sept. 14 by current Los Alamos National Laboratory Director Charlie McMillan.

McMillan was deemed a standout in his realistic portrayal of a dead man.
