New Mexico Fully Expends $1.25 Billion Allocated Through Coronavirus Relief Fund Under 2020 CARES Act

STATE News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) has announced the final Coronavirus Relief Fund expenditure report, an allocation under the 2020 CARES Act.

The entire $1.25 billion was distributed across the state with zero dollars reverted back to the U.S. Treasury.

These funds covered costs that were necessary expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency for the period beginning March 1, 2020, through Dec. 30, 2021.

It’s flu season and Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC) is ready to support the community. LAMC’s Flu Shot Drive Thru event is 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 22.

Use the Trinity Drive entrance to get to LAMC’s back lot, where RN’s and medical assistants will be ready to answer any questions and distribute flu shots upon your arrival.

Please consider the following:

  • You must be 18 years of age to receive the flu shot;
  • Ages 65+ can get this shot, the higher dose is preferred for that age group;
  • Short sleeves are preferred, so you are ready to receive the dose as you pull up; and
  • 4 people per vehicle.

LAPD To Conduct DEA Drug Take Back Day Oct. 29

National Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, Oct. 29, and the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) will be conducting its biannual DEA Drug Take Back Day.

This event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the North parking lot (off Central Avenue) of LAPD.

The following items will not be accepted: Needles/sharps, any liquids or creams, and aerosol/ compressed medications.

For this event, LAPD will have supplies available for people to be able to dispose of their liquids, creams and aerosols onsite. LAPD also will have a sharps container available for anyone to drop off their injectable medications. Read More

Curative Temporarily Moving Testing To UNM-LA Campus

COUNTY News:

Curative will temporarily move its COVID-19 PCR rapid testing site at the White Rock Town Hall to Building 8 on the UNM-LA campus at 4000 University Dr. in Los Alamos.

The move frees up the White Rock space for early voting. Curative will be in its new home beginning Wednesday, Oct. 19 through Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Testing hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, Curative offers Rapid PCR (R-PCR) tests with results available in two to three hours. Visit the Curative website at https://curative.com to schedule a date and time.
