Pfizer Boosters Now Available For 16-17 Year Olds

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) announced Friday that COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine booster scheduling is now available for 16-17 year olds.

This follows federal approvals by the FDA and CDC and a review Thursday by the New Mexico Medical Advisory Team.

Parents and guardians may register and schedule their children for vaccine boosters at vaccineNM.org. (Additional instructions are available at vaccineNM.org/kids.)

New Mexico COVID-19 Update Dec. 10: 1,468 New Cases, Totaling 329,778 With 13 New Deaths And 278,030 Recovered

SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials announced 1,468 additional COVID-19 cases Friday.

Los Alamos County reports 8 new cases Friday, bringing the total to 967 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 13 new deaths Friday in New Mexico related to COVID-19 and a 7-Day positivity rate of 11.5 percent.

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:

  • 366 new cases in Bernalillo County

ALBUQUERQUE — Attorney General Hector Balderas Tuesday announced that New Mexico will join in an $18.5 billion nationwide settlement with the three largest distributors of opioid medications in the United States.

NMSC: Malpractice Law Does Not Stop Another Party From Taking Over Hospital’s Claim Against A Medical Provider

SANTA FE — New Mexico law allows a hospital sued for medical malpractice to assign to another party its claim for reimbursement from a health care provider for a share of damages paid by the hospital in a settlement, the state Supreme Court ruled today.

In a divided opinion, a majority of the state’s highest court held that the Medical Malpractice Act (MMA) does not prohibit nonpatients from assigning their indemnity claims to someone else although Section 41-5-12 of the statute does bar a patient from assigning their claims for compensation for damages.
