Governor Puts Phase Two Economic Reopening On Hold

During a press conference this afternoon, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that the phase 2 economic reopening scheduled for July 1 is on hold.

The decision comes after recent spikes in COVID-19 cases in surrounding states in the region.

The state will continue to evaluate transmission rates and the rise in national cases for an additional week before making decisions about:

  • Raising the mass gatherings limit; and
  • Additional limited, COVID-safe reopenings.

Los Alamos Chamber Of Commerce Distributing 3,000 Masks

CHAMBER News:

The state of New Mexico is partnering with various business organizations to give 171,000 cloth face coverings to small businesses around the state for free distribution to workers and customers who don’t have their own.

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce received 3,000 of these masks and will distribute these to local businesses.

USDA Extends Foreclosure And Eviction Relief On Single Family Housing Direct Loans

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development Bette Brand has announced USDA extended foreclosure and eviction moratorium for all Single Family Housing Direct Home Loans through Aug. 31, 2020.

The moratorium applies to:

  • Initiation of foreclosures or completion of foreclosures in process, excluding vacant and abandoned properties; and
  • Evictions of borrowers from properties bought with a USDA direct home loan.
