Letter To The Editor: LAMC Exceeds Expectations!

By MARCUS HALL
Los Alamos

This is just a short public “thank you” to the Los Alamos Medical Center.

I am a single dad with an 8-year-old son. A short time ago I had to go the ER with severe stomach pains and was admitted overnight into the ICU for observation. My parents were out of the country. Friends picked my son up from school and took care of him that afternoon, but he had no familiar place to stay overnight.

The staff at LAMC set up a bed in my room in the ICU, arranged for his supper, and he was able to spend the night with me in my room. In the morning they arranged

So, I wore a fruit hat.

It was made of artificial fruit and I was going for that Carmen Miranda look, and folks at the party were kind enough to humor me in that regard. I wore the fruit hat to the Family YMCA Red and Black Ball last Saturday night, so there are lots of witnesses and I can’t pretend it didn’t happen.

The theme for the event was “Havana Nights” and for some reason I thought, “Carmen Miranda!” Although as it turns out, Carmen was born in Portugal and was Read More

Letter To The Editor: In Support Of Our Teachers…

By ELENA E. GIORGI
A concerned mother grateful for her children’s teachers

Dear Governor and dear Representatives who voted against the resolution that would’ve allowed teachers to take more than 3 sick days without penalty, let me ask you: how many times did you take a sick day this past year? How many times did you have to assist a sick family member, whether a child, a spouse, or an elderly parent? And all this when you hold a position that doesn’t keep you inside a classroom five days a week. Along with train stations and public places, schools are the primary route for the spread of infectious diseases Read More
