SFNF: Spring Prescribed Burns Planned

SFNF News:

SANTA FE – Fire managers on the Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest hope to take advantage of favorable spring conditions to conduct prescribed burns during a window that opens April 17 and ends May 21.

That window is dependent on favorable conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality and weather forecasts.

Primary targets are a 600-acre unit at the southern end of Virgin Mesa and 400 acres on the West Mesa treatment area a half mile north of Virgin Mesa off Forest Road 607.

SANTA FE – After careful consideration of current and forecasted conditions, including winds, weather and relative humidity, fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) are planning to take advantage of a favorable window to conduct the previously announced prescribed burn in the Santa Fe Watershed Tuesday, April 11.

LAFD Seeks Vendors For Wildfire Day At Ashley Pond

“Wildfire Day” is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15. 
 
The Los Alamos Fire Department is seeking vendors interested in providing information about fire mitigation and defensible space services. The event is at Ashley Pond Park and vendors will be located in the Justice Center parking lot.
 
Vendors interested in hosting a booth for “Wildfire Day” are asked to contact the Los Alamos Fire Department’s Administrative Office at 505.662.8317 or send an email to the event coordinator.

Safety Town is returning to Mountain Elementary School 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 19-30. This free safety program is open to all children entering Kindergarten in the Fall or who will be five years of age by Sept. 1, 2017.
