Heavy Fuels Continue Burning In Commissary Fire

FOREST SERVICE News:

The lightning-caused Commissary Fire on the Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District is 13 miles to the east of Pecos, and two miles south of Barillas Peak.

Despite heavy rainstorms Saturday and a bit more rain early Sunday morning, heavy fuels in the interior of the fire continued to burn with a minimal amount of smoke. Total precipitation over the last 24 hours was reported at about a half inch.
