The Black Feather Fire, burning approximately 9 miles south of Gallina on the Coyote Ranger District, on the San Pedro Parks Wilderness, near the Peñas Negras Trail on the Santa Fe National Forest, remains at 2,198 acres consumed as of this morning with 5 percent contained. Shop On The Corner To Donate To Aid Maui Wildfire Victims

Shop on the Corner News:

Shop on the Corner Thrift Store in the lower level of Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, off of 39th Street, will donate $2,000 to fire relief in Maui.

All of this Wednesday’s proceeds plus all donated money on Wednesday will go to Episcopal Relief and Development in Maui for the victims of the wildfire that has devastated a large part of the island.

The community is invited to shop 8:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday for great back to school items, Halloween costumes and hundreds of other low priced items, knowing that the purchase price will directly aid fire victims in Maui. Read More

Hermit’s Peak Calf Canyon Post Fire Response – Northern New Mexico Type 3 Incident Management Team Reassigned To Flood Response

USDA News:

SANTA FE — The Northern New Mexico Type 3 Incident Management Team has returned to respond to post fire flood response after battling the Black Feather Fire.

Officials are in the Hermit’s Peak Calf Canyon burn scar assessing work needed to be done. Multiple pieces of heavy equipment have been ordered to help clear debris, clean culverts, and repair roads.

New Mexico Forestry Division: Update On Active Wildfires

NMFD News:

The New Mexico Forestry Division (NMFD) has issued an update on several wildfires that are requiring the attention of state, local and federal resources in New Mexico.

Intermittent precipitation throughout the state has benefited firefighting efforts. More is expected today and through the weekend. The Forestry Division will not issue an update over the weekend unless there is significant new fire activity.
