WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez announced that the budget proposal to fund the government through December includes the authorization of the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Act and $2.5 billion to compensate survivors of the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire.

Cottonwood Gulch Expeditions Partners To Implement Broadcast Burn On Private Land In McKinley County

SANTA FE — Cottonwood Gulch Expeditions is partnering with the Forest Stewards Guild (the Guild), The Ember Alliance, The Nature Conservancy, McKinley County, and a diverse group of collaborators to implement a broadcast burn on up to 120 acres of private land in McKinley County this fall season.

Ignitions are expected to be conducted over 2-3 days with potential smoke impacts over 4 days.

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) today rescinded the Jemez National Recreation Area flood risk closure order that was implemented after the Cerro Pelado Fire, effective at 8 a.m.

With the termination of Order 10-515, the public can now access popular recreation sites adjacent to NM Highway 4, including:

SFNF: Post-Fire Recovery Effort Includes Firewood Deliveries To Communities

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe and Carson national forests have been working this summer to provide free wood to community partners in areas affected by the Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon Fire and related closures.

TAOS — The Type 2 Southwest Area Incident Management Team 5 will transfer management of the Calf Canyon-Hermits Peak Fire to a Type 3 Incident Management Team at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.

Governor Signs Emergency Declaration For Hidalgo County Due To Severe Flooding

SANTA FE — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham Tuesday announced that she has signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Hidalgo County due to recent severe flooding, making available additional funding and state resources for affected communities.
