The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet has today decided to award the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Yoshinori Ohsumi for his discoveries of mechanisms for autophagy

This year’s Nobel Laureate discovered and elucidated mechanisms underlying autophagy, a fundamental process for degrading and recycling cellular components.

DEA Reduces Amount Of Opioid Controlled Substances To Be Manufactured In 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. ― The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has reduced the amount of almost every Schedule II opiate and opioid medication that may be manufactured in the United States in 2017 by 25 percent or more, according to a Final Order in the Federal Register, available for public inspection here.

What does a white cane mean to the ordinary citizen of Los Alamos? Mostly the answer is, “I don’t know.”

A white cane is a device used by a class of handicapped citizens in order to move about in a sighted world. Not all blind people are totally blind. Many have limited vision such as those who have glaucoma, pigmentosa or macular degeneration. The Los Alamos Heart Council 2016 Health Fair is 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24 in Griffith Gymnasium at Los Alamos High School, 1300 Diamond Dr.
