Community Invited To Public Meeting To Discuss Atomic City Transit Plan Thursday Oct. 6

COUNTY News: 

The Los Alamos County Transportation Board is hosting a public zoom meeting in conjunction with the monthly board meeting 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 to discuss the Atomic City Transit (ATC) Plan.

The Plan includes potential improvements to the transit system over the next five years. Los Alamos County has retained LSC Transportation Consultants, Inc., to prepare a 2022 Short-Range Transit Plan for ACT that will span the next five years. The Los Alamos County Atomic City Transit (ACT) will be closed Monday, Oct. 10, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Regular Atomic City Transit service will resume Tuesday, Oct 11.

ACT will operate a shuttle every 20 minutes between White Rock and Bandelier, Saturday, Oct. 8 through Monday, Oct 10.

Atomic City Transit Route 3 Service Suspension Continues

COUNTY News:

Atomic City Transit (ACT) will continue its suspension of Route 3 transit service until the completion of Canyon Road construction.

While ACT officials initially believed services could be reinstated by Monday, Oct. 3, transit operator vacancies continue to affect operations. 

Transit staff strategically decided to continue the suspension of Route 3 after concluding that this Route had the least impact on ridership since Route 1 could accommodate these same riders with thirty (30) minute service.
