United Church: Appeal For Donations To Mission Possible

UCLA News:

Mission Possible is one of the missions that the United Church of Los Alamos has supported since the 1980s. Mission Possible is a Christian mission devoted to bringing the Gospel, food, health care, and hope to people in Eastern Europe.

Mission Possible has been especially busy in Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion. Mission Possible urgently needs additional funds to continue this work as the destruction by the Russian invasion continues. SANTA FE — The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) encourages utility service providers and customers to utilize the benefits available through the New Mexico Home Fund, a statewide financial assistance program administered by the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration and funded by the U.S. Treasury Department.

New Mexico To Deliver $10.9 Million In Utility Assistance

HSD News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) has announced a second supplemental payment was issued Sept. 16, to New Mexicans approved for the Low-Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP) between Oct. 1, 2021, and Aug. 31.  

HSD received $22 million from the Federal American Rescue Plan as additional funding for LIHEAP, a program that provides qualified, low-income families with one yearly payment to assist with home heating and cooling costs. Payments are directly made to the HSD LIHEAP customer’s utility vendor.

Scene Of DPU Crews Fixing Water Leak On 40th Street

Scene of Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities water crews begin digging up a leaking water pipe this morning on 40th Street near Diamond Drive in North Community. While repairs are underway, a portion of 40th Street is expected to be closed to through traffic until approximately 4 p.m. today. Signs warning motorists of the road closure are placed at the corner of Diamond Drive and 40th Street as well as at Sycamore Street.  A portion of 40th Street in North Community is closed to through traffic for emergency water repairs today.

The work is expected to be complete by 4 p.m.

Signs warning motorists of the road closure are placed at the corner of Diamond Dr. and 40th St. as well as at Sycamore St. and 40th St. The affected portion of the streets is approximately in the middle of that street.

Pyramid Café Moving/Expanding To Central Park Square

BUSINESS News:

Pyramid Café announces its new location at 157 Central Park Square, next to Pet Pangaea. The space was formerly the location of Time Out Pizzeria.

Owner Ziggy Rzig said the eastern part of the restaurant, facing 15th and Nectar streets, will feature Pyramid’s freshly prepared foods and take-out options.
