Cabinet Secretary Barbara J. Vigil

CYFD News:

SANTA FE — The Children, Youth & Families Department (CYFD) and the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority are working to ensure stable housing for young adults, thanks to an innovative program specifically designed to benefit young adults who’ve experienced barriers to housing.

The Landlord Collaboration program creates incentives for property owners and managers to lease to older youth and young adults who struggle to secure rental housing.

The key, CYFD has found, is the landlord who can step up to help end youth homelessness.

It never fails to strike us how such a great tragedy as that war and the resulting death of so many people occurred essentially due to the ambitions of a very few, as has happened for millennia. Hitler and Mussolini and essentially primarily a military junta in Japan during WWII, the Caesars, Alexander, Napoleon, Genghis Khan, and so many others, great and small. Megalomania is an awful, and awfully destructive, thing.

However, ambition is bad—and even evil—if Read More

This month’s balance pose is a perfect next step from last month’s pose (Holy Fig Tree). Hopefully this past month you practiced and have started to develop the tools – strength, balance, skill and flexibility to work with balancing poses. This month’s pose – Warrior 3 or Virabhadrasana 3 requires a bit more strength while balancing. It also requires focus and endurance.

My preferred version of this pose is what I call Warrior 3 for hikers using my hiking sticks for a little extra support. Read More
