SANTA FE — With wildfire season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to prepare homes and yards for wildfire.

The 2022 Wildfire Preparedness is Year-Round campaign provides monthly wildfire preparedness tasks that follow the changing seasons. DP Road Temporary Lane Closures Today & Wednesday

COUNTY News:

Crews from Construction Survey Technologies, Inc. will be conducting exploratory potholing today and Wednesday to locate existing utilities at five locations along DP Road east of the Los Alamos County Fire department Training Center.

During each potholing activity, one traffic lane will be closed, and flaggers will direct traffic safely through the work area.

Motorists are asked to use caution and follow the signage and directions of the flaggers during this work.

This potholing work is in support of the DP Road Phase II Roadway and Infrastructure Project.

As the weather warms up, road construction projects will soon begin throughout the County.

To assist residents with the latest updates, the County has re-instituted a Friday email newsletter called the Cone Zone – brief updates on construction activities planned for the next week.

Elks Easter Egg Hunt And More At Ashley Pond Park April 16

COMMUNITY News:

The Elks annual Easter egg hunt is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at Ashley Pond Park in downtown Los Alamos.

The event includes a bike rodeo with free helmets, at 10 a.m., the Easter egg hunt beginning at 11 a.m., bouncy houses, which open at 11:15 a.m. and a scavenger hunt hosted by Freedom Church Kids.

Visit the Freedom Church Kids booth to enter a raffle and take a picture with the Easter Bunny hosted by Freedom Church Los Alamos. Also meet local firefighters and other first responders, view their vehicles and meet Elroy the Elk, Smokey the bear and Sparky the fire dog.
