SANTA FE — A state plan for protecting critical water and wastewater systems from cyber-attacks has received high praise and approval from the White House.

The National Security Council, Environmental Protection Agency and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency asked all states to prepare an action plan to mitigate cybersecurity risks in water and wastewater systems. Los Alamos Police Hosts DEA Drug Take Back Day Oct. 26

LAPD News:

On Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) will be conducting its biannual DEA Drug Take Back Day.

This event will begin at 10 a.m., run until 2 p.m. and be held in LAPD’s North parking lot (off Central Avenue).

Items not been accepted in the past include:

  • Needles/sharps;
  • Liquids or Creams; and
  • Aerosol/Compressed Medications.

For this event, LAPD will have supplies available for people to be able to dispose of their liquids, creams and aerosols on site. LAPD will also have a sharps container available for anyone to drop off their injectable medications.

Senior Activity Centers To Close Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Betty Ehart and White Rock senior activity centers will be closed Monday, Oct. 14 for Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

All regularly scheduled activities are canceled and no congregate meals will be served Monday, Oct. 14. Members who receive Home Delivered Meals will have a frozen lunch delivered on Friday, Oct. 11.

In observance of Indigenous Peoples Day, some Los Alamos County government offices and services will close or have modified hours on Monday, Oct. 14, 2024.

The County’s administrative offices, Atomic City Transit fixed bus routes, and the Environmental Services division are closed on Monday.
