LANL News:

  • Inaugural ceremony marks completion of powerful system to detect gamma rays and cosmic rays

Supernovae, neutron star collisions and active galactic nuclei are among the most energetic phenomena in the known universe. These violent explosions produce high-energy gamma rays and cosmic rays, which can easily travel large distances—making it possible to see objects and events far outside our own galaxy.

Construction is now complete on the newest tool available Read More

SFI Seminar: ‘Exploring The Hidden Metric Space Of Complex Networks’

Antoine Allard
University of Barcelona

SFI News:

The Santa Fe Institute (SFI) presents ‘Exploring the Hidden Metric Space of Complex Networks’ at 12:15 p.m. Monday, March 23 at Collins Conference Room in Santa Fe.

Abstract: Many real world complex networks are embedded in metric spaces. In some cases, such as airport networks, the embedding is explicit, while it is hidden in other cases such as the Internet or metabolic networks.

This talk will present an overview of the theoretical framework developed to unveil the hidden geometry of real complex networks. Among other things, Read More

Senators Introduce Bill To Establish Microlabs

U.S. SENATE News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U. S. Senators Martin Heinrich, D-N.M. and Cory Gardner, R-Colo., members of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, introduced S. 784, the Microlab Technology Commercialization Act, a bill to accelerate technology transfer by establishing off-campus microlabs that would serve as the “front-door” to national laboratories.
