James Wylie Gordon, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Brewster Place in Topeka, Kansas. He was born January 21, 1934, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Charles Wylie Gordon and Hazel May Williams.

After graduating from Topeka High School in 1952, James attended the University of Chicago before enlisting in the Navy from 1954-1957. Following his enlistment, he attended the University of Kansas, earning first a B.S. in Physics in 1961, and then a Ph.D. in Physics in 1968.

Dr. Mark Anthony Mathews, 74, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 due to MS related causes.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Mathews and brother Karl Mathews. Dr. Mark Mathews was an avid outdoorsman and a hunter. He collected clocks and loved to use his hands to build many different projects. He was a passionate geophysicist committed to his work.
