Tyler Ryan Van Anne, 16, of White Rock died Wednesday, December 4, 2013.

Our beloved son, Tyler, was born on March 6, 1997. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, basketball, football, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He touched many hearts with his involvement in Young Life, Every 15 Minutes, Natural Helpers, lifeguarding at Canyon Vista Pool, and as a courtesy clerk at Smith’s Grocery.

Darrell Patrick (Bosco) Hohner passed away at home in Los Alamos, N.M. on December 5, 2013. He was eighty-one years of age. He was born to Fred W. Hohner and Myrtle Hohner (Keenan) of St. John, Kansas on August 17, 1932.

Bosco moved to Los Alamos with his parents and sister, Nancy, in 1946. He graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1950, was active in sports, and excelled in his favorite sport of baseball. ALICE BRIGHAM WATERMAN July 14, 1919–Dec. 4, 2013

Alice Brigham Waterman, age 94, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, December 4, with family by her side. She had just spent a joyous Thanksgiving holiday with children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even a great-great granddaughter. She had struggled for eight months with declining health after breaking an ankle and being diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma.

Pearle Lois Thomsen died peacefully on October 12, 2013. She was born on February 12, 1920 and grew up during the Great Depression in Galesburg, Illinois.

She attended nursing school and worked as a nurse anesthetist. Her first husband, Johnny Maxwell, was killed in the South Pacific in World War II. She married John Thomsen in 1945 and lived in Seattle, Denver, Cleveland, and Peoria, Illinois; she lived much of her adult life in Des Moines, Iowa.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born July 18, 1918 in Mvezo, South Africa. He died today in Johannesburg, South Africa after months of fighting a lung infection.

Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.

He is survived by his wife Graça Machel and seven children.

World-renowned astrophysicist Dimitri Mihalas passed away in his sleep at his home on November 21, 2013 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Dr. Mihalas retired from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1999 and from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2011. Dimitri, to his friends and family, has donated his body to the University of New Mexico Medical School and his library to New Mexico Tech.

JESSE CLEOFITAS BORREGO March 28, 1938–Nov. 16, 2013

Jessie Cleofitas Borrego, called “La Curlita” by many long time friends and family, went home to be with the angels on Saturday, November 16, 2013. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jimmy Curle and one newborn son. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was strong in faith and in her convictions. FRANK OSVATH Oct. 31, 2013

Frank Osvath, 93, of Los Alamos, NM passed away at the Los Alamos Medical Center on October 31 at 5:20 p.m. He was with family at the time of his passing.

Frank was born in1920 in Detroit, Michigan to Louis and Sophie (Nagy) Osvath. As a teenager he trained and worked at Henry Ford Trade School (Henry Ford actually came into his workplace, gave him a pat on the back and asked Frank what he was doing).
