Our living treasure Juanita R. Chavez, 89, of Los Alamos, transitioned peacefully September 10, 2022, with her Lord and Savior. Her beautiful soul left this world surrounded by her family.

Juanita was born in Torreon, NM on May 9, 1933, to Juan and Maria Chavez. She attended Estancia School district completing the 8th grade. She lived in Albuquerque, NM with her sisters Cecilia Sanchez and Nestora Baca cleaning homes for affluent families.

Mrs. Aurita “June” Bird passed away peacefully on September 2, 2022, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, at the age of 87 years old.

Alexander Kent Kendrick, Ph.D., 29, of Los Alamos, NM, lost his valiant battle with brain cancer surrounded by his wife Caroline and family in his home Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022.

HELEN FULLER Aug. 25, 2022

Helen Fuller’s fortunate life drew to a close Aug. 25, 2022, at age 89. She died peacefully surrounded by family a few weeks after falling and breaking a hip while hiking.

She was born in Denison, Texas, the second daughter of Walter Greene and Willie Rice Langston. Helen credits her father for her love of making people laugh by saying funny things and being silly. She was also incredibly smart and studied math with a minor in physics at Baylor University where she met her future husband Jack Fuller.

Marilyn Annabelle (Webster) Finnegan was born on September 7, 1926, to Amelia (Zacharias) Webster and Jay Webster in Decatur, Illinois. Her father, a World War 1 veteran, died when Marilyn was just ten, and the family moved to Fort Thomas, Kentucky, where Marilyn met George Finnegan, her high school sweetheart and future husband.

Betty Wilde, 94, left the mortal coil after a long, slow decline. Her children surrounded her in her final days.

She was born and raised in New York City, but first came to Los Alamos in 1949 as a newlywed when her first husband was a graduate student working at the Lab that summer. At that time she was married to Robert Thorn, and after he completed his education in Cambridge, they returned to Los Alamos, and she had been a resident of New Mexico for many years.
