By STEVE BOERIGTER, ChairFolks, we outdid ourselves! The 2017 4th of July Celebration at Overlook Park was the best attended yet.
The hot sunny skies gave way to some clouds and respite from the heat. All who entered the park on Meadow Lane were greeted by the Fire Departments huge flag. It’s a great reminder that we really do live in a special place.
While the dedication of the fireworks team in Kiwanis might be obvious, much of the community is behind the event long before the first BBQ, football toss, or glowstick. We would like to thank our major sponsor, Los Read More

By CAROL A. CLARKI was contacted this morning by a volunteer with the Friends of the Shelter who expressed deep hurt at a recent story published in the Los Alamos Daily Post about the organization severing ties with the local animal shelter.
She felt the headline with the word “raid” misrepresented the actions of the volunteers and that the organization’s long history of caring for animals has been diminished.

Then began the overture for Johann Stauss’ Die Fledermaus which the “Waltz King” loaded with highlights of the musical numbers from his most successful operetta.
The essence of the story is the notary Dr. Falke, still Read More

Los Alamos
Few movies capture honestly what it is like to be a teenager, but “Say Anything” is one of them. The 1989 film, rated PG-13, will show at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Mesa Public Library. Admission is free.
In this cult classic, senior Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) is in love with class valedictorian Diane Court (Ione Skye), a girl so far out of his league that on graduation day, rather than ask her to pose with him for a photo, he lurks near her while his friend surreptitiously snaps a shot. Read More
