  • The Office of the Medical Investigator has confirmed and positively identified the body recovered in the below search and rescue mission as that of Paris Shane Wallace.

NMSP/Local Agencies Conduct Warrant Round Up For Absconders From Justice

The New Mexico State Police in conjunction with local and federal agencies continually conduct warrant round-ups for absconders from justice.
 
June 30, the NMSP Santa Fe Uniform Bureau, along with the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole conducted a warrant round-up.

Four persons were located and arrested:

  • Mark Ramirez for Criminal Sexual Penetration, Second Degree;
  • Melinda Montoya for a DWI Probation violation;
  • Elmer Ornelas for burglary and failure to comply with child support requirements; and
  • Gabe Pacheco for traffic

Judge Revokes Probation For Crystal Padilla

Crystal Padilla, 34, of Santa Fe will remain incarcerated until Oct. 19 after her fourth violation of her probation. Padilla entered into a plea bargain in October 2016 and was found guilty of attempting to commit a felony by unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.

Probation Officer Linda Pena told Los Alamos Magistrate Judge Pat Casados June 29 that Padilla’s most recent violation involved being found overdosing by her son on a bathroom floor. Traffic Stop Yields Meth Arrest

Hazel Bucholz, 18, of Jemez was arrested June 20 and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of a drug paraphernalia.

Los Alamos Police Cpl. Jemuel Montoya was dispatched to a report of a juvenile driver that was under the influence of drugs. Montoya’s incident report says he encountered the vehicle headed southbound on West Jemez Road, engaged his emergency lights and performed a traffic stop.

The driver of the truck was placed under arrest and the other occupants were asked to exit the vehicle so that it could be returned to its owner. Read More

Possible Drowning At Cochiti Lake

COCHITI LAKE/SANDOVAL COUNTY — The New Mexico State Police were asked to assist with a possible drowning victim Saturday at Cochiti Lake, just south of Santa Fe. The subject is believed to be a 34-year-old male from Albuquerque.
 
At approximately 6:30 p.m., the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the NMSP Dive Team to locate the victim within the lake. Once officers arrived on scene and met with all agencies involved it was determined that the New Mexico State Police would take over the operation.

LAPD Nabs Fugitive

Police arrested a fugitive from justice from Kalamazoo, Mich. Thursday morning in Los Alamos. Ericks Alfons Hausmanis is wanted in Michigan on a felony charge of failure to pay child support and desertion/abandonment/nonsupport.

A statement of probable cause filed in Los Alamos Court by Los Alamos Police Cpl. Jaime Gonzales states that he was called to the Smith’s Gas Station when Cmdr. Preston Ballew requested a second unit on the scene. Ballew reportedly knew Hausmanis from prior contact and was aware that he had a warrant from Michigan.

Los Alamos Police arrested Patrick I. Barela, 21, of Truchas June 22 and charged him with distribution/possession with the intent to distribute three grams of marijuana, first offense.

A request for a search warrant filed by Los Alamos Police Det. Ryan Wolking June 15 alleges that he set up a controlled purchase of marijuana from Barela in April. The request states that in texts between  Barela and a confidential informant, Barela referenced a “dub”, which Wolking said in his experience refers to $20 worth of narcotics, specifically marijuana. State Police Investigation Into Prison Narcotics Smuggling Leads To Arrest Of John Aragon

ALBUQUERQUE The New Mexico Department of Corrections contacted the New Mexico State Police to investigate allegations that an employee was illegally taking narcotics into the State Prison facility in Santa Fe in return for financial compensation from outside sources.
 
The employee was a corrections officer identified as John Aragon, 60, of Albuquerque.
