Former Cop Gives Talk To Protect Children Thursday

The community is invited to hear a presentation by Deacon Robert Bustamante on his time as a police officer assigned to the vice squad in Portland, Ore.

Young people are often very naive to the dangers lurking in the world and can fall into the traps set to draw them into that life, especially young people going to college and away from home for the first time.

July 6 at 1:50 a.m. / Police arrested Nathan Reass, 26, of Los Alamos on East Road and charged him with possession of marijuana and issued him a summons to appear in court. The police booking photo is not available.

Williams: Police Killed From 1800 To 2015

Here’s a chart of the number of police killed in the US from 1800 to 2015. The main features are lawlessness (what level would the killing have reach in post 1930, if the FBI had not taken a very strong negative view of the bad guys?) and civil disorder over black integration, which culminated after a decade and a half.

We’ve had a downward trend since the mid-1970’s. The low now appears to be about 110-125 per year (about like post WWII). Makes me wonder what will bring on the next wave. Read More
