State Police Arrest Suspect In Pursued Vehicle

NMSP News:
 
ALBUQUERQUE   Around 2:30 p.m., June 28, a State Police patrol officer in Santa Fe made contact with a stolen vehicle reportedly involved in a carjacking from Albuquerque. 
 
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle on Interstate 25 northbound near the Cerrillos Road exit in Santa Fe, but the vehicle fled. Dispatch had previously sent out notice to officers to be on the lookout for the stolen 2003 Dodge Stratus, which had been previously pursued by other agencies in the Albuquerque area.

FBI: Spike In Virtual Kidnapping Extortion Calls

The Federal Bureau of Investigation seeks to alert the public to a recent spike in “virtual kidnapping” extortion calls in the Rio Grande Valley.
 
Over the past decade, several FBI offices, along with many state and local law enforcement partners, received reports from the public regarding extortion schemes, often referred to as virtual kidnappings. These schemes typically involve an individual or criminal organization who contacts a victim via telephone and demands payment for the return of a “kidnapped” family member or friend.

Police Offer Tag-Your-Tot Program At Overlook July 4

LAPD News:

At Monday’s Fourth of July Fireworks event at Overlook Park, the Los Alamos Police Department is again conducting its Tag-Your-Tot program.

Tag-Your-Tot is a program used at the New Mexico State Fair and Balloon Fiesta every year by law enforcement. Tag-Your-Tot helps reunite lost children with their parents much faster than searching on foot.

Parents who bring their tots to the LAPD information booth and complete a form with their names and cell phone number will receive a bracelet for thier tot with an identification number on it so if that child gets lost while at Overlook Read More

Governor Announces Capture Of 100th DWI Fugitive

SANTA FE — Today, Gov. Susana Martinez announced the capture of the 100th DWI fugitive in New Mexico since the roundup began late last year.

In December, Martinez directed New Mexico State Police and the Department of Corrections Absconder Unit to track down and arrest DWI offenders – including repeat offenders and those who have killed or seriously injured families on the road – and have now skipped out on parole or probation and are hiding from the law.
