State Police Checkpoints/Saturation Patrols Underway

NMSP News:

New Mexico State Police (NMSP) will be conducting Sobriety Checkpoints, Saturation Patrols and Registration, Insurance and Drivers’ License Checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during the month of July 2014.

Our efforts continue to show a significant reduction in alcohol related fatalities. This is attributed to the continued media attention and intensive advertising. These checkpoints are helping to change society’s attitude about drinking and driving.

FBI Seeks Public’s Help Solving String of Albuquerque Bank Robberies

The FBI and local law enforcement authorities are asking for the public’s help in solving six bank robberies that occurred in the Albuquerque area in June.

The FBI is investigating whether some of these robberies may be related. Anyone with information about these or other bank robberies is asked to call the Albuquerque FBI Field Office at 505.889.1300 (24 hours). Tips also can be submitted online at https://tips.fbi.gov.

Neither arrests nor charges indicate a conviction, and neither means that a person is guilty of the charges filed against them.

 

June 19 at 2:15 p.m. / A 55-year-old Los Alamos woman reported that someone damaged her property on San Ildefonso Road. The estimated loss is more than $1,000.

June 19 at 3:25 p.m. / Police arrested Joseph Gutierrez, 19, of Espanola at 2500 Trinity Drive and charged him with tampering with evidence. A police booking photo is not available.

Los Alamos Maintenance Worker Charged With Murder

Police arrested Henry Wilton June 19 in Los Alamos on an outstanding warrant from Espanola Magistrate Court on an open count of murder in the first degree.

Wilton, 48, is a maintenance worker at Los Alamos Public Schools who lives in Espanola. He was initially charged with aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, false imprisonment and now murder after reportedly beating his 41-year-old girlfriend who lapsed into a coma and died Monday.

Update: The NMDPS just annouced that Baron Holloway and Frances Hidalgo have an ongoing releationship. He is 34, from Belen, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 215 pounds, green eyes and brown hair. He drives a white Dodge Magnum. This was reported as a forcible abduction. A warrant has been or will be obtained for his arrest.

Former Los Alamos Acting Police Chief Randy Foster has been hired as chief of the Bloomfield Police Department. He is replacing retired Police Chief Michael R. Kovacs.

Foster, 38, was recently selected out of a national pool of 48 applicants as one of the top three finalists for Santa Fe police chief. Espanola Public Safety Director Eric Garcia got the job and last Friday, Bloomfield City Manager David Fuqua contacted Foster and offered him the police chief position in Bloomfield.

Vehicle Impact Damages Rim Road Residence

This home at 98 Rim Road in Los Alamos was damaged shortly before 5 p.m. today when a car crashed into it. The female driver of the car was not injured and no injuries were reported inside the home, which was unoccupied at the time. Los Alamos Police Department personnel and Los Alamos Fire Department crews had to evacuate the entire cul de de sac at the end of Rim Road because the vehicle ruptured a gas line connected to the house. Alert: Car Crashes Into Home Causing Evacuation of Cul De Sac on Rim Road

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos Police Department personnel and Los Alamos Fire Department crews have evacuated a cul de de sac on Rim Road in Los Alamos after a car collided into a house shortly before 5 p.m. today at 98 Rim Road.

The collision was minor with little damage to the house, but the vehicle ruptured a gas line connected to the house and evacuation was necessary as a precautionary measure. Department of Public Utilities crews were dispatched to the scene of the accident shortly after the 911 call and are currently working to shut off the gas line.
