Los Alamos Police Host Public Ceremony Thursday

POLICE News:

In honor of Police Memorial Day, the Los Alamos Police Department will host a public ceremony 9-9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 15 on the north side of the Justice Center near the flag pole at 2500 Trinity Dr.

The ceremony will honor those officers who have given their lives in service of others.

All citizens are encouraged to attend. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the lobby of the Court complex.

Impact of Van Bends 18 Wheeler’s Axle in White Rock

The owner, center, of this 18 wheeler with flatbed trailer parked on Bryce Street in front of Pinon Park Pool watches Wednesday morning as workers check out the damage to his rig. DA’s Office Drops Charges Against Michael Calhoun

COURT News:

The District Attorney’s Office has dropped all charges against Michael Calhoun of Los Alamos for lack of evidence.

Los Alamos police filed charges Feb. 8 against Calhoun, 46, of negligent use of explosives and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The case was dismissed without prejudice March 18, which is a dismissal that allows for re-filing of the case in the future.

The Children’s Court dropped the charge of negligent use of explosives filed by Los Alamos police Feb. 8 against a 14-year-old Los Alamos boy, citing lack of evidence. Read More

Van Drives Into 18 Wheeler Flatbed Trailer Parked on Bryce Street in White Rock

Los Alamos police and firefighters rushed to the scene of an accident around 7:15 p.m. today in which a van ran into the back of a 18 wheeler with flatbed trailer parked on Bryce Street in front of Pinon Park Pool. EMTs checked out the driver and his passenger and released both at the scene. DNA Tests Confirm Identity of Missing White Rock Resident Michael T. Cannon

The body of missing White Rock resident Michael T. Cannon has been identified by DNA testing. Family members of had reported him missing June 25, 2011. Cannon was a long time resident of White Rock and 66 years old at the time he was reported missing.

Residents reported seeing him walking in White Rock on the day of his disappearance. Los Alamos police, family and community members began searching trails and canyons near White Rock that day.
