Los Alamos Police Host Drug Take-Back Saturday

Officers with the Los Alamos Police Department are hosting a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the following locations:

  • Site 1: Los Alamos Medical Center Parking Lot; and
  •  Site 2: White Rock Visitors Center Parking Lot.

Note: Needles will not be accepted.

Major Fun Underway At Today’s 2014 LAYL Wild Day

Today is the Los Alamos Youth Leadership’s 2014 Wild Day LA event at Los Alamos High School. LAYL hosts Wild Day LA once a year for Kindergarten through 6th grade students and includes art, outdoor activities, team challenges and spending time with youth mentors. LAYL is a youth leadership program for high school students, which begins in August and ends in April of each year. It has come to the attention of the Los Alamos County Police Department that a male using various names is posing as a police officer of Los Alamos County, Santa Fe County and other police agencies. The male is calling residences, usually home phones, using different stories coercing the people he is calling into transferring money to him over the phone or computer.

To those of you who are “on board” with the anti-APD protests in Albuquerque: If you’ve never ridden with a policeman or policewoman on patrol, do not criticize. You cannot imagine the stress of a job (for the officer or his/her family) in which any given encounter can be a death threat.
