Sept. 20 at 12:33 p.m. / A 38-year-old Los Alamos woman reported that someone burglarized her property in the 700 block of 43rd Street. The estimated loss is unknown.

Sept. 21 at 8:41 p.m. / A Los Alamos man reported that he was the victim of trespassers in the 3200 block of Villa Street.

Firefighters Douse Small Brush and Debris Fire

At approximately 6:25 p.m. this evening, firefighters responded to a small brush fire behind the apartments at 3100 Trinity Dr., west of the Reel Deal Theater. Pine needles, a rug, notepaper and other debris were found burning at the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Sept. 29

WASHINGTON As New Mexico continues to battle alarming prescription drug abuse rates, U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., is encouraging citizens to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day this Saturday, Sept. 29 and turn in unused or expired medication to locations in their communities.
 
The event, sponsored by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, will provide free, anonymous drop-off sites throughout the state for safe medication disposal.

BREAKING NEWS: Three-Car Accident Near Anderson Overlook

Updated: (4:12 p.m.) Both lanes now open; (3:58 p.m.) with additional details and photos.

Emergency responders are on the scene of a three-vehicle accident that occurred a short while ago just east of Anderson Overlook on the main hill road. The extent of injuries, if any, are not known at this time.  No crash victims were transported to LAMC after five reported victims refused transport. Minor Injuries Reported in Two-Vehicle Crash

A two-vehicle collision this afternoon sent a Los Alamos woman to the hospital with what appear to be minor injuries.

Los Alamos Fire Department EMTs transported Deborah Storms, 46, to Los Alamos Medical Center after the red 2011 Subaru she was driving collided with another vehicle near Trinity Drive and 4th Street.

UPDATE: Police Re-open N.M. 4 to Jemez Mountains

The Los Alamos Daily Post received official word that N.M. 4 into the Jemez Mountains from Los Alamos has re-opened to traffic in both directions following a crash earlier today. 

Los Alamos Police Capt. Randy Foster released a statement saying that at approximately 11:15 a.m. today, a White 1998 International Flatbed truck was heading eastbound on N.M. 4 near milepost 49 when it exited the roadway and fell approximately 200 feet before coming to rest in the forest.
