The FBI and Los Lunas Police Department are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who robbed U.S. Bank at 2421 Main Street SE, Los Lunas, Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, at approximately 5 p.m.

Suspect description:

  • Race: Hispanic
  • Height: approximately 5’10”- 6’0”
  • Build: Thin
  • Clothing: Blue Jeans, Black Hoodie, Sunglasses, Face mask, black shoes

U.S. Attorney’s Office Charges Mexican National For Attempted Bribery Of U.S. Border Patrol Agent

ALBUQUERQUE — A Mexican national faces federal charges for allegedly attempting to bribe a U.S. Border Patrol Agent after being apprehended for illegal re-entry into the United States.

According to court records, on February 8, 2025, Samuel Mendoza-Torres, 29, was taken into custody along with another individual near the Santa Teresa Border Patrol Station. While being transported to the station, Mendoza-Torres allegedly asked the agent, “Can we fix this?” and offered $400 for his release.

U.S. Attorney’s Office Secures Sentencing Of El Salvadorian Woman For Assaulting Border Patrol Agent

ALBUQUERQUE — A Salvadoran national was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for biting a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

According to the complaint, May 29, 2024, a Border Patrol agent encountered a group of five individuals, including Erika Jasmin Lobato-Melendez, 27, walking along the border wall. When the agent attempted to take the group into custody, Lobato-Melendez became obstinate, refusing to enter the agent’s vehicle and grabbing onto the border wall.

U.S. Attorney’s Office Announces Sentencing Of Albuquerque Man For Violent Carjacking And Robbery Spree

ALBUQUERQUE – An Albuquerque man has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for a series of violent crimes committed in 2021.

There is no parole in the federal system.

According to court documents, Dairon Romero, 28, engaged in a crime spree that included carjacking and multiple robberies. Specifically:

 

  • July 17, 2021, Romero carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint from a pregnant woman exiting a Walmart with her three young children.

U.S. Attorney’s Office Secures Guilty Plea From Shiprock Woman In Straw Purchase Case

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE — A Shiprock woman pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the straw purchase of a firearm that was later used in a violent crime spree and murder.

According to court documents, April 24, 2024, Brittania Navaho, 29, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, purchased a revolver and ammunition from a pawn shop in Gallup, New Mexico, on behalf of Rydell Happy, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

At sentencing, Navaho faces up to 15 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

After placing an officer on leave in connection with the DWI Enterprise Investigation, NMSP Chief Troy Weisler has issued the following statement:

Sweeping Measure To Crack Down On Crime Passes House

A sweeping measure to crack down on crime in New Mexico that could end up being one of the defining bills of this year’s session passed the state House on Saturday.

House Bill 8 consists of six originally separate bills, including changing criminal competency procedures and measures to crack down on fentanyl trafficking, shooting threats, vehicle theft and drunken driving. It now heads to the Senate, with about a week until the session’s halfway point and the Legislature’s self-imposed deadline to get an omnibus anti-crime package to the governor’s desk. Read More
