State Police Investigate Homicide In Guadalupe County

ANTON CHICO — Feb. 24, 2025, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was called to investigate a homicide that occurred at a residence in Anton Chico.

New Mexico State Police agents were called to 1003 Poco Seco Road, in Anton Chico, NM for a house fire where a deceased individual was located inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Mexican National Extradited To U.S. To Face Federal Drug Trafficking Charges In New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE — A Mexican national was extradited from Mexico to the United States to face federal drug trafficking charges in New Mexico.

Guillermo Amaro-Rodriguez, 42, made his initial appearance last week in federal court after being extradited from Mexico on a charge of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

A federal grand jury indicted Amaro-Rodriguez Oct. 12, 2022. According to the indictment, Amaro-Rodriguez conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine in Bernalillo County and elsewhere.

ALBUQUERQUE — A Navajo man pleaded guilty in federal court to second degree murder and firearms charges stemming from a fatal shooting in 2022.

According to court documents, July 26, 2022, officers from the Navajo Nation Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near Ojo Encino.

Upon arrival, officers discovered John Doe deceased at the scene with a gunshot wound to his chest and right arm. Witnesses identified Jason Lee Martinez, 51, a member of the Navajo Nation, as the shooter, who fled immediately after the incident.

Tangerine Bolen has become an unofficial expert in organizing civilian searches for missing elders in the last year.

In March 2024, she coordinated a search for Esther Barnes, a 98-year-old who walked away from Las Soleras Senior Living. Bolen and her fellow searchers ultimately found Barnes’ body about a half-mile from the facility.
