Today is the 2016 Primary Election Day and the day to let your voice be heard. The election is open to all registered voters in the Democratic and Republican Parties.

The following Voter Centers will be open until 7 p.m. today:

  • Los Alamos County Municipal Building in Council Chambers, 1000 Central Ave.;

  • White Rock Library Multi-Purpose Room, 10 Sherwood Blvd.; and

  • Los Alamos County Golf Course Community Building, Multi-Purpose Room, 4250 Diamond Dr.

The Los Alamos County Council has written a resolution to prevent the Sheriff from doing his job as prescribed by state law. As everyone should know, state laws trump county ordinances. 

The people of this community should also know that an elected sheriff derives his authority directly from the people, which is why he outranks all other law officers in his jurisdiction.
