Hundreds of children raced through the Los Alamos Golf Course during Sunday’s annual Easter Eggstravaganza.

Egg hunters got their picture taken with the Easter bunny, played in the bounce houses, participated in arts and crafts and ate popcorn, sno cones, hamburgers and hot dogs.

The Los Alamos Golf Association and New Beginnings Church sponsored the community-wide event.

In some cases the pilgrims walk for hundreds of miles, sometimes bare-footed, sometimes carrying crosses which are often left on the grounds of El Santuario. Los Alamos Jewish Community Celebrates Purim

Tiny tiger Linnea Stange and mom Sy Stange were at the Jewish Center Wednesday for a party prior to the annual Purim Service. Purim is one of the most joyous and fun holidays on the Jewish calendar. It commemorates a time when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination. The Purim story is told in the Book of Esther, which is read during the Purim Service. Esther, the Jewish queen married to the king of Persia saves her people from extermination at the hand of the scheming counselor Hamin. It is customary to hold carnival-like celebrations on Purim. White Rock Easter Sunrise Service At Overlook Park

COMMUNITY News:

La Vista Nazarene Church, White Rock Baptist Church, White Rock United Methodist Church and White Rock Presbyterian Church will combine to offer an Easter Sunrise service of worship at 6:30 a.m., March 27 at Overlook Park in White Rock.

The White Rock and wider communities are warmly welcome to attend, and join to celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord.

The Easter Sunrise Service at Ashley Pond Park begins at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, March 27 on the west side of the pond.

Every year, when Palm Sunday comes around, I am reminded of my childhood. As a Catholic, it was a day on which we would certainly go to mass. It meant that I would get to come home with a palm leaf; and it meant Easter was around the corner and Spring was upon us.

RTD Adds Additional Bus To Accomodate Chimayo Pilgrams Good Friday, March 25

NCRTD News:

In addition to its regular Chimayo Route bus, the North Central Regional Transit District (RTD “Blue Bus”) will be adding an additional bus along its Española to Chimayo route to accommodate people making the annual pilgrimage to El Santuario de Chimayo on Good Friday, March 25.

Two ADA accessible buses will run on a continuous loop throughout the day 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (the first bus begins at 8 a.m. and the second at 8:30 a.m.) departing from the Española Transit Center on Oñate across from Cook’s Hardware. Great Los Alamos Kid’s Treasure Hunt March 20-26

COMMUNITY News:

First Baptist Church is a hosting a community-wide treasure hunt geared for kids in grades K-6. This is the second year for the event.

Boxes with tickets inside are hidden around in Los Alamos and White Rock. They could be at local businesses, park, public building or other location.

Clues are available at www.fbc-la.org beginning at noon Sunday, March 20 and continues until dusk Saturday, March 26. The clues lead to the boxes placed around Los Alamos and White Rock.
