National Day of Prayer at Ashley Pond Park May 1

May 1 is the 63rd Annual National Day of Prayer. More than a million Americans will unite at more than 42,000 locations from coast to coast to pray for the nation. 

This year’s theme is “One Voice, United in Prayer” based on Romans 15:6. There will be a local prayer gathering at Ashley Pond Park noon to 1 p.m., on the first Thursday of May.

SANTA FE – The annual journey to El Santuario de Chimayó is underway. Dozens of walkers have already begun their trek to the church. The Santuario de Chimayó Pilgrimage Joint Information Center would like to remind pedestrians and motorists to be safe as they make their way along the route.

The Building Committee of The United Church of Los Alamos, 2525 Canyon Road, is hosting an informational Open House today, Monday, April 14, regarding the outside accessibility upgrades about to begin at its 67-year location.

Aaron’s Kids Closet opened its doors for the first time last month to serve this community. The First United Methodist Church of Los Alamos ministry provides clothes and shoes to school age children at no cost.

Los Alamos Jewish Center Hosts Annual Community Passover Seder April 15

The Los Alamos Jewish Center will hold its annual community Passover Seder this year at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at the Betty Ehart Senior. The event is open to anyone interested in attending.

The Seder is a ceremonial dinner filled with rituals designed to celebrate the Jewish people’s exodus from Egypt. The Seder, which is Hebrew for “order,” ushers in the week of Pesach in which Jews refrain from eating Chametz. (Chametz means “leaven” and is any food that’s made of grain and water that have been allowed to ferment and “rise.”)
