United Church Undergoing $2.4 Million Renovation

UNITED CHURCH News:

The United Church of Los Alamos is under construction. The $2.4 million renovation project includes most of the campus, including the Christian Education Building, Sanctuary, Thrift Shop and parking lots at 2525 Canyon Road. 

An elevator and atrium are being installed in the Christian Education Building.

The church had a successful fund raising campaign earlier this year that has allowed it to proceed with this major project. Read More

The Los Alamos Jewish Center community eagerly anticipates welcoming a special guest rabbi for this year’s High Holiday season, Rabbi Melissa Klein.
 
Rabbi Klein will not only officiate religious services, but will also lead community events that weave together traditional high holiday values with the theme, “Generation to Generation.”
 
Longtime Los Alamos rabbi, Rabbi Jack Shlachter, was honored with an invitation to lead services at a synagogue in Vienna, Austria.

A large fire broke out this morning in the chapel of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church, 112 East Road.

One firefighter was transported to Los Alamos Medical Center after a 5-inch coupling broke loose and injured his ankle as he battled the blaze.

No one else was hurt, Deputy Fire Chief Justin Grider said.

House of Hope Women Host ‘Pie in the Sky’ Dinner July 12

In support of the Trinity on the Hill-sponsored house-building mission trips to Juarez, Mexico, the House of Hope women are hosting a pot pie, “Pie in the Sky” Fundraiser Dinner from 5:30-7 p.m., Thursday July 12 in Kelly Hall.

The menu includes chicken and vegetable pot pies, salad and ice cream. (There also is a vegetarian option and a gluten-free option is available.)
